We are here in South Carolina thinking of Zach daily and praying for him. Our hearts are with him and we pray he will emerge from this and grow so much from it. Your family will never be the same and Gods hand will always be holding you as you take this long journey. We love you.

We have known your family since our son ,Scott and Zack played baseball together at Southeast as young boys and our hearts go out to your family. Since the accident ZACK has been on our mind constantly and I am praying constantly, it could have been any of our kids. For all you teenagers reading rememember the sweatshirt piece Mrs Hornback gave you and remember what she said, Eileen that was a wonderful thought in your time of despair. Zack ,when your better and read this remember you have lots of friends who care and prayed you through this. God is in control and is the ultimate healer and we are all crying out to him to heal you, with love

Ms. Hornback, You don't know me but i met you at the hospital surgery waitting room. I had recognized you there from Friday when i had brought my mom in for per opt surgery. I am so very sorry for what happened to your son he is so young and has his whole life ahead of him. I am sure that God is with him and you all as his family every step of the way and in my heart i know that God will take great care of your son and let him make a full recovery. But also i want you to know that i am thinking of you and Zack and i will pray very hard for him. Just remember that God loves you. Thinking of you,

With a half smile and head cocked to the side, Zack would lean back in his Honors English I seat and say, "Aww, Mr. Rice...I read the story." He made me laugh in spite of myself, not to mention his peers. Fortunately, his grades usually backed up his claim. :)

Although it will take much more than a smile to pull through this, I know that God uses "prayer offered in faith" to "make the sick person well (James 5)." And as this site shows, people are certainly praying. Yes, we make mistakes, but He remains forgiving and faithful. From tragedy to triumph, I believe He is only beginning to use this experience as a witness to Zack, to his family, and to his friends at CAL, SECC, and elsewhere. The Master Teacher will continue to provide us with the lessons and the needed strength for the path ahead.

I look forward to the day the path leads back to the hallways of CAL where Zack can once again flash that smile. As always, Zack, "Carpe diem for Him." For now, we'll continue to pray for the smaller day-to-day victories for Zack, for his family, and for the doctors.

P.S. A special "hello" to Kyle from the 2nd and 3rd grade children's worship class at church--they're praying too!

Eileen, as a mother of 4 beautiful children myself,I hurt so badly for you, Zack, Scott and the little ones! You are an absolutely amazing woman and I am in awe of your strength and incredible insight! I believe so strongly in the Lord's devine guidance. This has gotten me thru some very difficult times. I am simply astonished at your ability to already see the good that has come from this terrible accident. You have a beautiful heart and your love for zack, your family and everyone else is so bright and strong. Thru all of the pain and fear that you are experiencing you are opening to those in pain and comforting them. You are a shining example of God's love. I know that you and your family will recieve His mercy and that Zack will have a miraculous recovery. I have seen the power of prayer overcome in the past and know that it will now. Although some may disagree, I believe there is nothing more powerful than a mothers love for her children. Hang in there strong mommmy!!!
With love and prayers!! Oli

Palmer(cousins and friends)- We have been praying for Zack since we've heard this horrible news. Lindsay has a prayer chain amongst her close friends for him. We are doing everything we can to aid in his recovery and we hope that he continues progressing in his recovory, these pictures and diary enteries of his recovory are shocking, horrifing, and sad, so sad I can't even think of a better word for it, it brings tears to all our eyes to see somebody we know and love in so much pain and brings us happiness to hear of his recovory.

Father in heaven, it is right that we should give you thanks and glory: you are the one God, living and true. Through all eternity you live in unapproachable light.
Source of life and goodness, you have created all things, to fill your creatures with every blessing and lead all men to the joyful vision of your light. Countless hosts of angels stand before you to do your will; they look upon your splendor and praise you, night and day.
United with them, and in the name of every creature under heaven, we too praise your glory as we ask for the Holy Spirit to come to Zack, speed his healing, and bring him back to us. Father, we are obedient to all your commands, we are humble as we come before you with this prayer. Jesus only son of the Father, You were once among us, You were nailed to a cross, You know the pain that Zack is in. We beseech You to make Zack well. We pray for all this in the name of our Lord, The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Hornback Family,

I pray for Zack and your family. I can feel the love for your son in your postings. I have a son and daughter that I pray for each night. I too believe in the power of prayer and am certain that God has a plan not only for my own children but for all of us. I have too often try to orchestrate that plan to my timing and my way. It has not worked for me yet. So I just ask the Lord to be with them and for them to know His presence in their lives. I am encouraged by your faith and have learned from you to stay in that faith and He will not fail you. Thank you for what you are giving to others through this time. I will continue to pray for your family. Jae
